Introducing our In My Experience series, encompassing IME's brand ethos around each individuals experience differing from another. A wonderful way to share experiences with an understanding that although our journey's may be different, we can all learn and grow from each other.
Our first feature is the wonderful Jess Scott, founder of Bubba Cloud.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Jess and I’m 34 years old. I live on the Southern end of the beautiful Gold Coast with my 4 year old Daughter Hazey and baby number 2 about to arrive, Husband Muz and our beloved family cat, Blondie. We love the beach, camping and everything that goes with the coastal lifestyle.
What are 3 non-negotiable's you prioritise for your health
Diet and food are a number one priority in our household. We like to source fresh, local and where possible organic produce. We also cut out all foods that contain any additives and seed oils!
Secondly, exercise and movement! My husband and I make sure that no matter what, we make time to move our bodies daily, it’s our ‘me time’.
Lastly, nature ~ I need my daily does of vitamin D in the sunshine and washing everything away in the ocean.
You’re close to having your second baby, how has your pregnancy been and do you have any tips for other expecting mothers?
This pregnancy I did very differently to my first. With guidance from my private midwife, I took prenatal derives from food (Foraged for You - Mothers Blend) rather than synthetic supplements and I have felt and still feel amazing.
I also started eating good quality organic grass fed meat (I was vegetarian for a long time). My iron stores were low around the 20 week point and after discussing it with my midwife I started taking the Ancestral Nutrition Beef Liver Capsules. I was so happy to not take a synthetic supplement as prescribed in my last pregnancy. The current supplements have worked well, my iron levels went back up to where they should be. I also found that I have had more energy and my skin, hair and nails have never been so healthy.
This year I’ve really learnt to slow down, take it all in and try not to worry about the little things. Life is short and being happy together is the most important part! Everything else can wait.
I love being a working Mother and navigating the challenges that running a small business and having a young family throws at you. Life is very busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always been a very organised person so for me it’s about having a good routine that works, making time in that routine for myself, prioritising my daughter and husband over everything else and learning to surrender and just go with the flow when life happens.
